Clippers Press Room

Media Information From the Los Angeles Clippers' Communications Department

Media Guidelines

Clippers season media credentials, Clippers daily media credentials (good for that specific game only), STAPLES and NBA League passes are the only credentials honored for Clippers games at STAPLES Center. NO OTHER CREDENTIALS WILL BE HONORED. A valid, government issued photo I.D. of the credential holder must be presented at time of daily and season credential pickup. Applications for season or daily credentials may be made in writing on company letterhead to the Clippers’ Communications Department. Requests for daily credentials must be made by mail, phone or fax to the Communications Department at least 24 hours prior to game time. Day-of-game requests will not be honored. When applying for the first time, newspapers and magazines must include copies of the publication with the request. Those who hold season credentials or NBA League passes who are covering a specific game must call the Clippers Communications Department so we may reserve seating for you. When in the arena, we ask that media members please wear their credentials at all times.

Clippers’ Head Coach Mike Dunleavy will conduct his pre-game media availability session in his office and his post-game media session in a designated Locker Room.

The Communications Department is available to service local and visiting writers covering Clippers home games. Visiting media needing a final box score faxed to their offices should inform any member of the game night staff.

Game notes are available in the press room 2 1/2 hours prior to tip-off. For visiting media every effort will be made to supply early game notes, credentials, news clips and other pertinent information the night before, or morning of, the game. Quarter, halftime and final box scores will be furnished to working media by the Clippers’ game night staff throughout the game and are also available in the press room. Post-game quotes, notes and practice information will be distributed in the press room as soon as possible following the game.

International media interested in covering NBA regular season games must first submit a request in writing to the NBA League office. Please do not contact the Clippers directly. All credential requests must be received at least three business days prior to the first game requested. Requests must be faxed to the attention of Rachel Walsh, NBA International Communications, at (212) 407-8044. Additional information on international media policies may be obtained by contacting Rachel Walsh at (212) 407-8058.

In accordance with NBA policy, locker rooms will be open for a 45-minute period, ending 45 minutes prior to game time (for example, the room will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. start). Locker rooms will be opened 10 minutes after the conclusion of the game. Only working members of the press with valid credentials will be admitted to the locker rooms. Per NBA policy, still photography is not permitted in the locker rooms. In addition, per NBA policy, cell phone usage by members of the media is prohibited in the locker room.

Press seating at STAPLES Center is located courtside (on the east side of the court), in the Lower Level (Sections 108, 111 & 114) and in the press box located on the upper west side of the arena.

The Clippers will only issue media credentials to online media outlets who meet the following criteria:

  1. The outlet is part of a national news gathering agency.
  2. The outlet reaches a broad audience.
  3. The outlet produces original content.
  4. The outlet has an established record of developing original content.
  5. The outlet employs full-time journalists.
  6. The outlet does not advertise or link to gambling sites or sites which contain questionable content.

Parking for members of the media who have purchased a full-season parking pass is located in Lot C, on Cherry Street between Pico Blvd. and Chick Hearn Court. A book of season parking passes, priced at the discounted rate of $10.00 per game with a guaranteed parking space, can be purchased by contacting the Clippers Communications Department at (310) 862-6000. Those not wishing to take advantage of the seasonal parking option will be able to park in the “general” parking lots, for example, LOT W (West Garage) and at the Convention Center adjacent to the West Hall, South Hall and Venice Blvd. These locations are available on a first-come, first serve basis for a rate ranging from $8 to $25. Media parking for shootarounds at STAPLES Center is located in the Olympic West Parking Garage/LOT W, located off 11th Street/Chick Hearn Court between Cherry Street and Georgia Street, free of charge.

Credit-card charge lines are available in selected media sections and in the press room for those outlets who do not have a designated phone line. Please contact Laura Geery-Larson of STAPLES Center at (213) 742-7246 or via email at with any phone related questions.

Credentialed photographers may shoot at either the north or south baseline. There are no photo positions on the sideline. A photo position chart will be posted on the basket stanchions and in the press room for each game. Photographers are asked to contact the Communications Department to reserve space on the floor. Free-lance photographers will not be credentialed unless they are on specific assignment from a magazine or newspaper, and proper requests are submitted from that outlet. Photographers must observe the NBA’s “Three-Foot Lane” rule, which allows one position for home and broadcasting television outlets immediately next to the stanchion, then a three-foot escape lane that must be kept completely clear of photographers and equipment. All other photographers will be seated beyond that three-foot lane. Photographers must also be aware of the following other NBA-enforced restrictions:

  • Cameras mounted on the basket stanchion must be set back at least four inches from the edge of the padding.
  • Cameras mounted behind the backboard cannot be visible inside the target box from any angle.
  • Tripods are not permitted.
  • Use of flash is not permitted.
  • All cameras must have rubber-capped lenses.

Clippers practice sessions are held at the Los Angeles Clippers Training Center. Per NBA policy, media will be allowed access to the last 30 minutes of practice with a 30-minute media availability session to follow (Policy subject to change). Practices are always subject to change and/or cancellation. Media wishing to cover practice should always contact the Communications Department in the morning to confirm practice time and location. The address and directions to the training center are as follows:

The Los Angeles Clippers Training Center
6951 S. Centinela Ave.
Playa Vista, CA 90094

From the 405 Freeway, exit Howard Hughes Parkway. Make a right on Sepulveda Blvd. Make a left on Centinela Ave. Turn left into the first driveway after the Radisson Hotel light, and make an immediate right into the Training Center parking lot.

The press entrance, where daily and season credentials may be picked up, is located on the Chick Hearn Court side of STAPLES Center (between Figueroa and Georgia Streets). Media must enter at Stairway 18, which leads down to the Event Level. This is the only location where season and daily credentialed media may enter the building.

The stairway from the Media Entrance leads directly to the Press Room on the Event Level. It is equipped with work space, phones, TVs, a stat monitor and fax service.

The Clippers will shootaround on home game days from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at either the Los Angeles Clippers Training Center or at STAPLES Center. Shootarounds are closed, with a 15-minute media session beginning at 11:00 a.m. If the visiting team conducts a shootaround from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., their media session will generally be held from 10:45 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

The Communications Department will provide statisticians to assist visiting television and radio broadcasters. Requests should be made to the Communications Department several days in advance to avoid any conflicts.

Please contact Andy Bernstein with NBA Photos for all questions regarding strobe rentals at STAPLES Center at (213) 304-2123 or via email at
